Lazlo Berdan had a busy week first taking part in the Tetbury Woolsack race lugging his 60lb sack over the 240 yard course in 65 seconds, just 17 seconds off the winning time. He was back to more familiar territory on Saturday the 09th competing in the South Cerney Triathlon, a standard distance event (1500m swim, 40K bike, 10K run). He finished in 98th place in a total time of 2:40:00 ten minutes faster than his time at the Nuffield event, with a marked improvement in the water and on his run.

In between this he took part in the Jubliee 10K river swim. Neil Parry clearly has someone competing for the "never know when to stop" crown!

Sunday the 09th of June saw the Costwold's 2013 Women’s Only Event promoted by Tri-Ferris take place.

At the same time as the Westonbirt Tri Lazlo Ana and Laura were  competing in their first Triathlons of  the season. Laura at the The Tri Team Gloucester Triathlon and the Berdans at the Nuffield Triathlon Challenge  Event.

Laszlo and Ana Berdan competed in the Nuffield Triathlon Challenge on the 27th of May with Anna doing the sprint event (750 swim- 21.2K bike and 5K run), Anna reported the lake was a balmy 19 degrees, but as she never likes the pool too hot one supects that with a wetsuit on it might not have suited her, this was followed by a relaxing change in transition 1, if the time is anything to go by (making Barry and Laura look lightning fast). She then dragged an allegedly heavy bike around a very windy course. Laszlo in the mean time was on the standard course 1500m swim 42.4 mile bike ride and a 10K run. Check out the web site for photos of the event;

Needless to say Lazlo was back in the pool Monday, slightly more tanned than normal, Ana more sensibly had a rest but was showing off her new swim hat and looking as pleased as punch!

Dursley runner Garry Hughes, competing for Tri-Team Gloucester held off a strong challenge from 3 members of the Cycology Bikes Team to win the 2012 Saucony Westonbirt Triathlon. Leaving the pool after a 400m swim in the 6th place Hughes started moving up the rankings, placing 4th fastest on the bike over the 24km course, he came to the final and his strongest discipline the run in a good position. Hughes crushed any hopes of his competitors with the fastest time over the 5k, 16:03, almost two minutes quicker than the next runner, winning the event by 36 seconds in a time of 01:01:02.

Behind in Dursley Running Clubs colours Barry Topham delivered a solid performance over all the disciplines leaving himself with a little room for improvement in the transition zones.

Further North Laura Price was  competeing in her first Triathlon of  the season, The Tri Team Gloucester Triathlon. The course was slightly longer than Westonbirt with an extra Kilometer on both the bike and the run, sadly not playing to Laura's strenght in the water.One suspects that had laura gone to Westonbirt it woud be a close run thing between her and Barry.
