Sunday the 6th Jan of January saw the first of four aquathlons put on by Tewkesbury Tri Club for the 2013 series. The races consist of 20 lengths of a 20metre pool (400ms) then into transition for a 5k off road run. For some reason Ray Williams was the only Dursley Running Club Triathlete to brave the waters of both the pool and the fields, no doubt Jerry and Fred where up at the lakes lake getting some secret training in!

Ray started with a steady swim coming in around 7.30, with his transition Williams started his run with a time of 7.56. The course used as part of the Gloucester League Cross Country League and was well under water at the bottom of the field, so super fast times were not on the cards. Despite the conditions Williams managed to keep a steady pace up under the conditions coming in a time of 22.25 with a total time 30.26 just under a minute faster than last yeasr outing. He was rewarded with  3rd position in the super vet category, 20th out of a total of 55 athletes who took part. Williams reported that it was a great race,  well organised with a very friendly atmosphere. Next race 3rd of Feb with a bit of luck someone might join Ray!
