Gary Hughes continued an impressive return to racing with a second place in the Cirencester park 10K in 32.46 just 10 seconds behind the winner, following up his win in the Berkeley 10K and the White Horse 5K earlier in the summer. Kevin Jackson came in 44th in 39.38 folllowed in by Dave Durden who was 52nd in 39.59. Ray Williams was 128th in 45.12 with Mel Willams 219th 48.55.
The new course was easier than the old one with only the one steep climb to the Polo grounds but it had a couple of little digs at the end. As ever it was a glorious autumnal day and for those who took the trouble to look the scenery was magnificent. A definite for anyones race calendar.
Club runners have been out and about in droves over the last two weeks, running the Oldbury 10 , Fitness 4 miler
Kevin Jackson is starting to come back to form as ever in the fall, showing this with a 1.03.32 to come in 51st, Neil Parry although not strickly speaking a club members is already benefiting from the high quality club runs and ran an impressive 1.08.21 to come in 110th. Other Dursley Runners were:
Dave Sanders 179th in 1.14 42
John Delafield 187th in 1.15.23
Martin Parry 237th in 1.20.12
Roly Hobbs 248th in 1.2058
Mel Williams 271st 1.22.56
Mel Williams ran 29.59 to get under the 30 minute mark at the last 4 miler after running Oldbury the Sunday before, Dave Durden again flouted the opportunity to go under 24 minutes with a sluggish 24.29 to come in 6th, John Delafield came in 24th with 28.30, Chris Ashworth 43rd in 29.31 and John Spicer 58th in 34.12. Chris did slow down to take a phone call in the first mile much to the distress of race organiser Terry Haines who likes to keep new technology out of his races!

Kevin Jackson “hit the wall” in the last few miles, finally finishing in 3646 place in 3.24.28.
Erica Martin, one of Fred Yearsley’s coaching successes when she was younger, ran her first marathon – never an easy thing to do – but she had a brilliant run finishing in 2256 place in 3.13.36, 21st out of 2214 in her age group. The time of 3.13.36 puts Erica into the Elite Womans Race for next year.
