1. “Running slightly faster than normal” (AKA speed) sessions started at the Rugby Club last week, Thursday 6.50 for 7PM start, NB as grass sessions are weather dependent.   Will include warm up, strengthening exercises, work on form as well as speed.  Idea is to give those summer road runners a helping hand in advance of Berkley 10K, Lloyds Fitness Run, Sandhurst 5K etc etc…

2. We are hoping to deliver a pilot athletics (run jump throw) programme in June and July, if you have a child who would be interested in participating can you let Dave Durden know with name and age ASAP. As it is a new programme and we have lots of new assistant coaches we are trying to keep no.s down max of around 30. Dave is liaising with the rugby club to offer some of their players to he opportunity to participate as well.

Message from lake in North Bristol
We run the very popular open water lake in North Bristol (West Country Waterpark) and together with its 1000m running track it attracts swimmers  etc. from a far and wide area, due to our good water quality and depth of water, it is perfect for training. We are offering tri clubs a discount reduction on 10 or over at £6 per person (normal price £8) unlimited time within the set hours. This would encourage group racing which would be beneficial for your triathlon races and can be more fun rather than swimming alone. All of our details are on our website:http://www.BristolOpenWater.co.uk and your club would be most welcome. Bikes and cars etc. are safe here and hot food is served on the weekends. We hope you will take advantage of this training opportunity - the more the merrier.

Club Kit

We are looking to get samples of new lighter material for club vest and t-shirts. As soon as we have got will let people have a look. We will then need to place an order. The new lighter material is more expensive so if new members opt for this, around £5 will need to be paid. If members still want to get the heavierstyle Kevin, will order more (for new members this style is free).

Cross Training

Just to let everyone know that there are a range of fitness activities around. We have been given some info from Sam Cairns who runs a combat class and body blast (leaflets available at club otherwise facebook address is www.facebook.com/groups/fitfix). There are lots of activities available locally both local gyms and at Dursley Pool and Sports Centre. For the triathletes the latter offers swim fitness session, spin classes and kettle bell for those who want a strong core. The Courtyard Clinic (a club sponsor) does quite a bit of pilates and yoga, tends to be v. popular. If you new to running then a gentle walk can be a good way to help the legs recover! Club members also do different stuff – fairly regular bike rides (Dave Durden, Mark Waller, Tony Freer contacts)  over the weekends and in the summer in the evenings, some swim open water at South Cerney (Jerry Fowler, Rob Woodward). If interested just ask.
