Dursley Running Club Handicap Series

Tuesday the 13th was lucky for some as the last in the Dursley Running Club’s Handicap series took place. After a slightly delayed start, John Hensman led off the field.

Runners were graced with a beautiful September evening for the final event in this years handicap series ably organised by Ray Williams assisted by Mel and a host of other helpers.

The 2016 version of the "5 Peaks challenge" was renamed the "Dursley Peaks Race" to avoid any confusion for those with the desire to climb as many peaks on this "sceptred isle" as possible. The field was larger than the previous year with fifty six runners on the starting line. Dursley Running Clubs finest were there hoping to take a one, two, three in the event, Wyclef Forbes from Cirencester the key obstacle in the way of this objective.

Monday 11 May saw 295 starters turn out for the Berkeley 10K on a beautiful evening, the temperature was around 17 degrees at the start but rapidly cooling as the race progressed aided by a brisk South Westerly breeze. The race was run as part of the Gloucester Amateur Athletic Association Road Series and as a result there was a strong field across all age categories.
