Ray Williams,Rob Woodward, and Andy Kilby, took on the challenge of the Lanzarote Ironman, for most of us standing for 15 hours is tiring enough! to complete a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile cycle ride and finish with a 26 mile marathon is a breathtaking acheivement.

It alll started at 7 in the morning when our trio leapt into the Atlantic, whist the training at Dursley Pool put them in good stead, just keeping their heads above water in the melee of the start was a bonus. Rob came out of the water first in 1 hour 11 minutes closely followed by Ray and Andy.

Ray managed to build a 30 minute lead on Rob over the bike section, battling against a fierce wind and a lack of coca cola at one refueling station, Andy was a further 30 minutes behind.

The marathon was a gruelling finish, the cool evening air makiing it slightly more bearable. Ray finished in a fantastic 13 and a half hours, with Andy digging deep to catch Rob, both crossing the line in 15 Hours.

After a well earned rest next stop for the intrepid three is Cotswold Water park for a duathaon, a walk in the park in comparison!
