Whilst not as hilly as it might sound the Haresfield 10K is a challenging course and certainly not one to expect to PB on. A good turn out from the club fielding 5 runners in a field of 103.

Three intrepid runners journeyed down to Bristol to take part in one of the largest Half marathons run in the region around 16,000 runners taking part.This can mean quite a slow start as the crowds take time to get moving Weather conditions were reasonably favorable with rain keeping the runners cool. Dave Halford was the first runner in for the club 1267 overall on 01:38:38, Dave Saunders and Sue Peachy also completed the course. Congratulations to all three as the initially gently undulating course has a number of stings in its tail with small sharp climbs and cobbles towards the end.

The intrepid Williams Duo were out yet again running Cheltenham Harriers Bugatti 10k on Wednesday the 04th of August. There was an excellent turn out of 342 to this well regarded race. Ray claimed his time was down to an injury picked up at the Pilot 7 Miler, hopefully this wont affect his time in the fitness four miler

A good field turned out to Severn ACs Festival 7 Mile Road Race on the last thursday of July. With Ray and Mel Williams turning up for the club. Mel Was first lady home and first in her age category completing the distance in 55.09 leading from start to finish. Ray came in 11th in 51:07. Mel carried away the biscuits for her efforts.
On the same night Rockhampton Fun run enticed three runners form Dursley, Chris Gaze finishing 4th in 24:15, Chris Ashworth 23rd in 31:02 and John Spicer 33rd in 33:42

Severn AC Pilot 10 Miler
Ray and Mel Williams were the sole Dursley representatives for the Pilot 10 Mile race held on the 10.06. It was extremley hot and only 47 runners braved the conditions to take part Ray was 22nd in 1.04.53 and Mel 37th in 1.26.55. Mel was 3rd in her category 3rd in county league. |
