The Aviator 4, part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, took place on the Sunday the 12th of May Starting and finishing at Gloucestershire Airport. Weather conditions on the day were cool and breezy. The race saw 4 athletes from Dursley Running Club on the start line.

Neil Parry led the Dursley contingent home, although he was disappointed with his time, which can be considered his only disappointing run so far this season. Behind him the rivalry between Rebecca Topham and Kate Browning re-ignited. Last year mel and ALice had been battling it out this year it was Rebecca taking the laurels on the day pulling away to beat Kate by 24 seconds, the pair respectively first and second in the FV40 category and according to the result both posted 4 mile PBs (to be confirmed). If they can both make it to the Handicap Series a few interesting duels should take place. Finishing off for Dursley was Alice who finished 2nd FV55

Results: Neil Parry 25:21, 16th; Rebecca Topham 27:37, 28th (1st FV40); Kate Browning 28:01, 32nd (2nd V40); Alice Lewis 30:56, 52nd (2nd V55);

2012 Event

The battle between Alice Lewis and Mel Williams continued at the Aviator 4 mile event. Alice has continued to improve over the last season and a half , knocking 14 minutes off her four mile time at the Pilot Series in 2011, and her improved form was brought to the Aviator. Alice took off at a fast pace (dangerously fast as Trevor Lewis knows to his cost) and the gap just seemed to grow on Mel.

Having led all the way Alice  started to slow near the end allowing Mel to catch her in the last 400m, overtaking her to win by just 9 seconds. Mel is now looking for longer events to enter that will take the sting out of Alice's natural speed

Results: Mel Williams 53rd 00:30:29: Alice Lewis 54th 00:30:38
